Greater Amman municipality launched “I Can” Project which enables the children to use the educational tools freely and gives them time to employ their imagination and creativity in expressing themselves. Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, said during the launching ceremony of the project supported by Ahli Bank, “We inspire willpower and determination of giving and achievement by His Majesty, King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdallah, especially for their great efforts which will always be of great value for the future generations who will highly appreciate these efforts”. He added that Queen Rania played a remarkable role in children care and in encouraging them to read and learn. The author of “I Can” story, Ghada M’aasher, reviewed some beautiful images of the life journey which started from Amman schools and neighborhoods. She assured that the children’s dreams became reality with initiation, bravery, and self-confidence. The launching ceremony included the song “I loved You Amman” (Habbeitek Ana Amman), performed by Nataly Sam’aan, and Zaid Qandah entertained the audience with the song “’Uyoun Amman” (Amman’s Eyes). HRH Prince Raad Ibn Zaid, HRH Princess Majida Raad, and HRH Princess Alia Tawfiq Taba’a, the Deputy Prime Minister, Raja’i M’aasher, and some of the former prime ministers and officials, all attended the celebration which included a visual presentation on the story, in addition to singing tableaus (I Can, You Can, We Can, I Swear to Amman’s Eyes, We Can and I Can performances). These performances were presented by Amanda Hamati, Fadi Hamati, Zaid Qandah, Natali Sam’aan, and senior officials of the social services department at GAM. Executive Director of Social Services at GAM, Taghreed Fakhouri, said that the project goes in line with the Department’s motto to promote good citizenship that gains the children self-confidence, discovers their talents, and creates a loyal, conscious generation. It is worth noting that the project will hold workshops for the teachers, parents, and the children to shed light on the outlines of “I Can” book, through building confidence in the children as well as applying the appropriate teaching method. The workshops focus on motivating children to enjoy reading, providing them with an atmosphere to talk about “I Can’t” experiences at home and school, encouraging them to express emotions or situations that they encountered and overcame. These workshops also highlight the importance of learning other languages, creating awareness about environment protection and the benefits of recycling.
