GAM Organizes a Celebration on the Occasion of World Environment Day

 The Environmental Studies and Planning Department organized recently a celebration on the occasion of World Environmental Day with the collaboration of Public Libraries Department in the Millennium Park (Al-Alfyieh) in Tla’a Al-Ali Region. Children from Centrist Islamic Orphanage Center in Al-Kourah province in Irbid participated in this event.
The Director of the Environmental studies and planning department, Eng. Hatem Ababneh, said, “The world has decreed to set the date 5 June of every year as the World Enviroment Day”.
He added also that the greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is making huge efforts in maintaining the environment to make Amman clean and beautiful.
Eng. Ababneh invited the participating children to volunteer in this day to serve their country through maintaining the parks and streets and making them a priority.
From his end, the Director of Public Libraries Department, Mr. Hatem Al-Hamlan, explained that this celebration puts into action (GAM) vision and goals, which call for the necessity of the local community participation, all institutions and public and private sectors in (GAM) national, regional, and global celebrations.
The celebration included planting and cleaning the Park, entertaining activities for the kids, artistic programs by Al-Ashrafyieh Center Band “Center Bedouin Band”, live movie about the environment, and an environmental poem by the kid Dina.
On the sidelines of the celebration, gifts were distributed for the participating 40 kids.
It is worth mentioning that the Millennium Park (Al-Alfyieh) was established in 1999, then was fully equipped, courtesy LG Electronics.
