GAM Regions Continue National Holidays Festivities
The Deputy Mayor of Amman, Engineer Amer Al Basheer, sponsored yesterday a national festival organized by the Local Community Development Council for East Amman in Marka region, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of H.M. King Abdullah the Second assuming constitutional powers.
The festival was attended by the Provincial Magistrate (District Governor) of Marka, Abdul N’aem Al Sharman, and the Mayor of Amman’s Advisor for Regions Affairs. The event kicked off with the festival sponsor’s inauguration of Al Hashmieh Hall at the Council, which depicts the biography and the march of the Hashemites throughout history in the form of pictures, in cooperation with the Moral Guidance Directorate. The Deputy Mayor also inaugurated a vocational training center for girls and a beautician center, in addition to launching a fully-equipped medical center to serve the residents of the region.
During the festivity, the Council management gave a presentation about the Center and its departments, its progress since it was founded in 1982, and its accomplishments in terms of developmental projects that are meant to serve the region and its residents.
The participants in the festival expressed their fealty and support for H.M. King Abdullah the Second Ibn Al Hussein, pledging they would march behind the Hashemite leadership on the path to place Jordan at the forefront of countries around the world, and affirming their devotion to that leadership.
During a speech he gave at the event, the Head of the Council, Fu’ad M’ammar, reiterated the Royal magnanimity and initiatives towards the whole Jordanian family and the great achievements it has accomplished in Jordan, indicating that independence in the lives of people acts as a gateway through which the citizen can set out towards liberty and a better life.
He said, “We, in Jordan, are building a modern state, a state of law and order, citizenship, tolerance, and the spirit of renaissance, placing it in the forefront of the Arab and Islamic world.”
From his end, the Director of the Council, Eng. Omar Al Hamlan, stated that the passing of 10 years under the leadership of H.M. King Abdullah the Second Ibn Al Hussein comprises a period of amassed accomplishments that the Building King (may he rest in peace) Al Hussein Bin Talal started, flourishing under the Hashemite vision and expanding to achieve the fundamental pillars of the modern country, a country of organizations and law.
He added that the Royal directives always aim at preserving the dignity of the Jordanian citizen, creating an atmosphere of liberty, social justice, and respect of human rights, in addition to establishing democratic life as a means of strengthening public security, stability, and safety.
Al Hamlan also praised the extensive role of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), which constitutes the basis of the King’s interest, and its efforts to serve the City and its residents, making it a safe cosmopolitan that takes pride in its heritage and culture. He reiterated the most important GAM achievements, indicating the Municipality’s dedication to making the Royal directives an on the ground reality.
Along these lines, the artistic and popular performances given by participants during the festivity voiced their pride in the occasion and their prayers that God keep safe both the country and its sovereign.
The festival also included the recital of poems and songs by Jordanian artist Yousef Al D’ajah, and Iraqi artist Ra’ad Habeeb, through which they sang for the King and the nation. There were also popular and folkloric performances by the GAM Popular Arts Band and the Ma’an Youth Band, and artistic acts presented by the students of Thu Al Nourain Private School and Abdul Malik Bin Marwan School.
It is worth noting that the festival which was organized by the Shabab Al Ghad (Youth of Tomorrow) team was held at the Jordan River Foundation (JRF), with the participation of the East Amman Developmental Charity Foundation, the charity foundations’ coordination councils, private schools, and sports clubs, in addition to the Jordanian National Forum for Women, the Health Awareness Committee, and Al D’ajah Clan Association.
Within this context, in Al Qweismeh region, Al Bara’ Center and Library that follows the GAM Training Center held a celebration program to commemorate the national holidays. Participants in this event were the Civil Defense Band with patriotic music, and Al Lawziyeen Band and GAM Band for Popular Arts performed patriotic songs and popular folkloric acts.
The celebration which was sponsored by the Head of the Local Committee for Al Qweismeh region, Ali Badr Al Hadeed, included a poetry recital, singing the praises of the nation and H.M. King Abdullah the Second’s accomplishments.
Along these lines, Ashbal Madeenat Al Malik Abdullah Al Thani (Cubs of King Abdullah the Second) gave a demonstration of self-defense skills, and participants in the “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” program gave an artistic performance on the mijwiz (a folkloric musical instrument), conducted by trainer Hamed Yaqoub.
The Head of the Training Center, Fadwa Abu Gheida’, affirmed that GAM aims at spreading computer literacy throughout the various regions, in compliance with the Royal vision.
Concluding the celebration, Al Hadeed awarded certificates to the graduates of the computer courses held for the local community in Al Qweismeh region, and letters of appreciation to the event organizers.
