The final of the ASUS European Nations Championship will be held in Cologne, Germany, at gamescom 2010 (August 18 - 22). The best computer game players of the continent will represent their countries and compete in six diffirent disciplines in front of the audience. The winners will be awarded the title and their share of €120,000. Electronic Sports League, eSports market leader, together with ASUS as the main sponsor, present the final matches of the tournament at the largest entertainment trade fair in Europe, hall 7.
The national representations which have qualified for the final round are: Germany, France, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria. The semi-final and final matches will be played in the following disciplines: FIFA 10, Warcraft 3, Quake Live, Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6 (men and women).
The qualifications for the final round of the ASUS European Nations Championship have been played online as well as at many live events in European cities such as Berlin, Vienna and Antwerp. Several matches were also played at some of the largest LAN events like 'Dreamhack' in Sweden and LAN Party in Poitiers.
ASUS European Nations Championship has been organised by the Eletronic Sports League since 2004. This year, for the first time in history, the female Counter-Strike 1.6 teams also take part in the tournament. The total sum of €120,000 is so far the highest prize purse in the European nations competition. Apart from ASUS, the eSports European Championship is supported by Windows 7 and gamed!de.
The final round of the ASUS European Nations Championship will be broadcasted live in hall 7 by ESL TV. All matches will be availabale in the video on demand section at www.esl.tv.
