The GCC foreign ministers held in Riyadh on Monday their 82nd meeting under the chairmanship of Omani foreign affairs minister Yousef Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah.
Speaking on the occasion, Yousef Bin Alawi said the proposals of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, the deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, pertaining to the peace process in the Middle East, have provided a clear evidence for the keenness of the Arab countries on realizing a durable peace in the region.
He noted that the proposals would boost the Palestinian struggle, reported the Saudi Press News Agency (SPA).
The council also renewed its call on the Iraqi regime to implement all security council resolutions pertaining to its invasion of Kuwait as well as respect sovereignty and security of the country and finding a rapid solution to the issue of Kuwaiti POWS.
Meanwhile, Iran has reiterated its support to the proposals of Crown Prince Abdullah. “We do support any step that may pave the way for a just peace in the middle east and meet the aspirations of the palestinians,” said spokesman for the Iranian government Abdullah Ramadan Zada.
”We are looking for the proposals of Prince Abdullah, who has been giving utmost attention to the interests of the muslim world,” Zada added. (Albawaba.com)
