General Secretariat Of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Becomes Platinum Conference Sponsor

The Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance (ADCCG), which aims to effectively promote and positively contribute to the development of the national economy by introducing highest standards and practices of corporate governance, today announced its keynote speakers who will be addressing its First Annual Conference on Corporate Governance in Abu Dhabi.

The ADCCG today also announced General Secretariat Of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi (GSEC) as the Platinum Sponsor for the conference. The Executive Council is an administrative body entrusted to propose public policies and strategies to be decided on by the Executive Council. In addition, ADCCG announced the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) as the Gold Sponsor. ESCA is the specialized regulatory body in the UAE that regulates and monitors the licensing of securities in the market and one of its major goals is to improve the efficiency of the financial markets and protect investors from unfair and incorrect practices.

The conference, which is scheduled to be held on October 14, 2009, will witness the presence of the region’s leading economists, financial experts, Government leaders and corporate heads.

Among others, the corporate governance conference will witness the participation of personalities such as H.E Mohamed Rashed Al Hamli, Director General, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), Dr Hoe Ee Khor, Head of Economic Development & Chief Economist, Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development and Alissa Koldertsova, Policy Analyst, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The one day conference which is titled “Corporate Governance in the UAE: Current Realities ... Future Prospects” has been categorised in three sessions which will begin at 9 A.M and will conclude at 5 P.M. The conference will witness the keynote speeches and panel discussions on a wide array of topics that includes Local Laws and regulation on Corporate Governance in UAE, International Best Practices of Corporate Governance and Applications of Corporate Governance on various industries.

Commenting on the Executive Council’s decision to support the conference as Platinum sponsors, H.E.
