Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar today invited NY Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize winning author Thomas L. Friedman as guest speaker as part of its Distinguished Lecture series. The lecture was sponsored by Georgetown’s Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS).
Friedman is a world-renowned author and journalist with a focus in foreign affairs and globalization. In his lecture, titled ‘The World is Flat 3.0’, Friedman discussed what technical advances combined with the lowering of trade and political barriers have done to commerce globally. The lecture was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in front of an audience made up of more than 700 members of the Doha community.
Georgetown’s Center for International and Regional Studies in Qatar is a premier research institute devoted to the academic study of regional and international issues. CIRS sponsors a number of forums throughout the year facilitating dialogue and an exchange of ideas on a broad range of issues with the aim to engage and enrich the university students and community.
