ALBAWABA - Several news outlets in Germany requested in an open letter Israeli authorities to give them approval to broadcast from the Gaza Strip, about a year after the start of the war.

A group of newspapers, agencies and broadcasters said that it is almost a year of war in Gaza, so "we call on the Israeli government: allow us to enter the Gaza Strip."

They wrote in the letter: "The almost complete exclusion of international media... is unprecedented in recent history."

The war in Gaza began on October 7 when the Hamas military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, carried out the Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel. Hamas fighters entered Israel from the Gaza border and took hostages.

The Israeli government announced large-scale operations against Hamas members and positions in the Gaza Strip on the same day and less than a month later, the Israeli army started a ground invasion in the area.

At least 41,252 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7 and more than 95,497 others were injured in the Israeli airstrikes, the Gaza Ministry of Health revealed on Tuesday.
