GRADUATING STUDENTS OF THE EMIRATES ACADEMY OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT HONOURED IN CEREMONY

The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, part of Jumeirah, the Dubai based luxury hospitality group, honoured graduating students in a ceremony attended by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of The Higher Colleges of Technology and Mr Gerald Lawless, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah.

At the ceremony, the second of its kind since The Academy’s inception in October 2001, eighteen students from ten nationalities received degree certificates while 74 new students, of which eight are UAE nationals, were welcomed as fresh intake for the new semester. The student body now encompasses  more than 250 students from 48 different nationalities.

In the keynote address, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan commented, “The Emirates Academy for Hospitality Management is a special institution, it was the first institution at the university level in the country to have its academic programs reviewed for licensure and accreditation before the first class of students was admitted.”

“…By establishing this Academy, Jumeirah has chosen to invest in people as well as buildings...we look for these graduates to make significant contributions to the United Arab Emirates and the Region,” His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan said.

Ron Hilvert, Managing Director of The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, said he was delighted with the achievements of the latest graduating class, “I am thrilled to be celebrating our second graduation ceremony for students of The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management.

“Each graduate should be immensely proud of the hard work and dedication invested to achieve their degree qualification and I am so pleased to announce the majority of our students have already found employment within their desired field,” Mr Hilvert said.

The eighteen graduating students have spent up to five years studying for degrees including a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in International Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science (BA) pass Degree in International Hospitality Management and an Associate Degree in International Hospitality Operations.

Most students have already secured entry-level positions in leading local and international companies within the hospitality industry and several have placements in Jumeirah Hotel and Resort departments such as Sales, Finance and Human Resources.

A Graduation Ball for the students will be held on Thursday November 2nd at Mina a’ Salam.
