Deputizing for the Mayor of Amman, Eng. Omar Maani, the City Deputy Manager for the Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat patronized the campaign “The Environment is Proud of Sports” At Ghamadan Park of the King of Bahrain Forest.
A selected group of the Jordanian sports stars represented the clubs of AL-Faisali, Al- Wihdat, Shabab Al- Urdon, Al- Yarmouk, Al- Hussein Irbid, and AL-Albaq’a, in addition to the Jordanian Gendarme Sports Association, and the promising youth of GAM participated in the event.
Jweinat applauded the sportsmen’s participation in the campaign which was organized by the Sports and Recreation Facilities Department, noting that such involvement encourages the local community youth to contribute to the conservation of the environment following the steps of their fellow sportsmen.
Players Ra’fat Ali and Faisal Ibrahim from Al- Wihdat, Khalid Sa’ad and Issam Mbaideen from AL-Faisali, Tareq Al- Krunz, Mustapha Shihadeh, and Ahmad ‘Odeh from Shabab Al- Urdon, Hamdi Said from Al Yarmouk, and Anas Al-Zuboun from Al- Hussein Irbid have joined the campaign.
The Director of the Sports and Recreation Facilities Department, Eng. Nasser Al- Batayneh pointed out that the idea and launch of the campaign emanated from GAM’s keenness to bolster cooperation with the civil society institutions and to be along side the Olympic Committee and the sports federations and clubs in preserving and maintaining the environment as a joint national responsibility. GAM official expressed his gratitude for all the parties who contributed to the success of the campaign, particularly the great helping hand extended by the General Directorate of Gendarme Forces.
It is worth mentioning that the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Bahrain, Bkheet Al- Dosari, the Executive Director of Sports and Recreation of GAM, Dr. Fahaed Al Bayari, and the Secretary General of the Jordanian Gendarme Sports Association, lieutenant colonel ‘Eisa ‘Al-Alawaneh participated in this environmental activity which aimed at rehabilitating and cleaning the Park to make it a healthy and recreational facility and a safe breathing space for the local community.
