To celebrate the launch of its new services to Dublin and Johannesburg, commencing on 2 December 2005, Gulf Air has teamed up with American Express Middle East (AEME) to offer some special, discounted introductory fares to the two cities.
Any American Express Card member booking and paying for a ticket between now and 31 December 2005 and travelling up to 31 March 2006 from any destination within the Middle East via Oman, the UAE or Bahrain to Dublin or Johannesburg, will be entitled to a 20 per cent discount on all classes of travel on qualifying published fares.
“Furthermore, American Express Gold and Platinum Card members buying a first or business class ticket to Dublin or Johannesburg can nominate a companion to travel with them FREE (excluding taxes and surcharges where applicable) on the same outward flights, class and dates,” says Gulf Air Vice President Sales and Marketing Danny Barranger.
“Alternatively Gold and Platinum card members can also buy a business class ticket with the opportunity to book and travel first class subject to space availability.”
American Express Middle East Head of Merchant Sales and Marketing Peter Fawn is delighted with the partnership.
“Gulf Air is among the most respected and trusted airlines in the region. We are delighted to be partnering with Gulf Air once again to provide our card members with another exciting lifestyle offer,” he says.

About Gulf Air
Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is presently owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and is the only truly Pan Gulf carrier in the region.
More than half a century later, the regional, geographic and cultural values that the airline has embraced are still central in defining the brand and service ethos within the contemporary and global environment.
Today the airline’s network stretches from Europe to Asia and covers 44 cities in 30 countries. The fleet comprises 34 aircraft.
Under President and Chief Executive James Hogan, the successful implementation of the first phase of a restructuring programme, which commenced in 2003, has resulted in the establishment of a platform for sustained commercial operation.
It has also provided a framework for a succession of innovative products and services including the unique Sky Chefs and Sky Nannies that form part of Gulf Air’s ‘boutique airline’ vision.
The dramatic turnaround in fortunes has won international recognition. The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) presented the airline with the prestigious Airline Turnaround of the Year Award for 2003.
