Gulf Air Joins Tejari Marketplace

Tejari (, the Middle East online marketplace, announced today that Gulf Air, the region’s only true Pan-Gulf airline, has joined its community of members.

In a move aimed at enhancing its relationship with more than 500 existing suppliers, Gulf Air will utilize the online auctioning facility on the Tejari marketplace to increase the efficiency of its procurement of goods and services, ranging from food and beverages to uniforms and technology, for the airline.

“The aviation sector in the Middle East is becoming increasingly competitive. As we near the end of the last year of our three-year strategic recovery, streamlining processes and utilizing existing technologies to reduce costs is of the utmost importance,” said James Hogan, CEO, Gulf Air.

“Tejari’s regional presence, the expertise of company advisors and their experience in dealing with other players in the airline industry made it the obvious choice when it came time to choose a service provider.”

“The conventional tendering process was not proving cost-effective and the incremental cost savings we have seen since joining the Tejari marketplace suggests that we made the right decision. The transparency of Tejari’s online auction process also ensures the equal sharing of information with local, regional and global suppliers,” he added.

Tejari’s solution can also be fully integrated with Oracle 11i E-Business Suite, which is implemented company-wide at Gulf Air.

“The e-commerce strategy adopted by Gulf Air reflects the growing commitment from large organizations in the region to embrace new technologies and business models to enhance their competitiveness and profitability. This partnership is especially significant for both parties as it enables Tejari to enhance its profile in the booming aviation sector while giving Gulf Air access to our huge member database,” said Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari.
