The trade and economy ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council and senior European officials will attend a convention on the Euro in Dubai next month, the organizers said Monday.
The October 8-9 "Gulf Euro Summit" aims to boost commerce and long-term economic relations between Gulf countries and the European Union.
"The summit is part of an EU economic initiative to provide new perspectives for regional progress," said UAE Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al-Maktoum in a statement.
"The Gulf can study regional key regional advances within Europe, including the Euro launch and its impact on improving efficiency and cross-border trade within a single market.
Former European Commission president Jacques Santer, European Investment Bank chairmn Philippe Maystach and Georges Pineau, the director general of the European Central Bank, are among senior European figures who will attend, the organizers said - DUBAI (AFP)
