ALBAWABA - Japanese authorities revealed that a suspected gunman has taken people as hostages at gunpoint in Japan, AFP reported on Tuesday.
However, no information about the motivation behind the incident was revealed yet.
Japanese authorities also don't know the exact number of people taken hostage inside a post office in Warabi city.
Meanwhile, Warabi City authorities revealed: "At approximately 2:15 p.m. today, a person has taken hostages and holed up at a post office in Chuo 5-chome area of Warabi city... The perpetrator is possessing what appears to be a gun."
The Japan Times reported that the suspected gunman is believed to be in his 50s or 70s.
It added that a shooting was first reported at a hospital in Toda, Saitama Prefecture, on Tuesday afternoon as the gunman injured two people.
Then he escaped to a post office where he took several people as hostages in the neighboring city of Warabi.
