Talks between Fatah and Hamas movements were delayed until May 16 and 17 in order to give the two sides the chance to discuss a new Egyptian proposal aiming at resolving all remaining issues, Palestinian press reports said.
Senior Hamas leader and member of its negotiations team, Dr. Mahmoud Zahhar, conveyed late Tuesday that the talks were delayed in order to give the negotiators of the two parties the chance to discuss the latest proposals and developments with their leaderships. According to him, the issues of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and security were the most complicated ones.
Hamas’ political bureau member, Izzat Al Rishiq, said that the file of the unity government remained unresolved. He added that he expects the upcoming talk sessions to focus on the issue of the unity government.
