Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development (HBMPSLD), an innovative leadership program designed to develop future sports national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai in the sports field, has announced that it has recently concluded the inaugural orientation session for the program's participants. This follows the recent selection by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of 33 candidates out of the 345 applicants from nine cities across the UAE, who made it through all the stages of the evaluation process to be part of the pioneering batch of HBMPSLD. During the orientation session, 30 activities, which will be conducted in the coming months, were explained to the participants, highlighting the significance of each activity in developing the participants’ skills.
Held in cooperation with H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Vice President of Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Executive Office of Dubai Sports Council, the HBMPSLD orientation session serves as an important element of the entire sports leadership development program as it provides the participants a concrete overview of the real concept and direction of HBMPSLD. The participants will also be briefed about the calendar of activities and the objective and importance of each activity.
Mattar Al Tayer said: "The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development has been conceptualised to be an important component of the long-term sports development program of Dubai. Through this initiative, we look forward to producing top-calibre leaders who will help us realise the huge potential of sports as a vehicle for progress and sustainable development, knowing that this program is considered to be a practical step in line with the forth objective of the Strategic Plan of Dubai Sports Council."
"This is a truly historic moment for the entire sports community of the UAE as we officially start the training process for the future sports leaders of the country. I would like to congratulate all those who made it to the pioneering batch of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development for showing solid leadership potential and a strong commitment to be part of the sports revolution of the country. We have very high hopes that they will lead us to higher levels of success in our domestic sports programs as well as in the international sports arena," said Adel Al Shared, Executive Director of HBMPSLD.
Saeed Al Budoor, General Manager, UAE Golf Association, commented: "It is indeed an honour to be part of the pioneering batch of this exclusive training program. I would like to thank the distinguished individuals behind the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development for giving us the opportunity to improve our leadership skills and contribute more meaningfully to the development of sports. There is so much that we can achieve in sports and this initiative is certainly a huge step towards attaining more success in the sports world."
Initiated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Sports Leadership Development is an administrative and managerial leadership program for all sports fields. The key objectives of HBMPSLD include ensuring a long-term systematised leadership development in sports; initiating changes for a progressive and productive sport society under the ‘Change Agents Program’; convening an elite group of sports leaders to help participants in the program benefit from their experiences; sharing insights about individual leadership styles and values; and helping Dubai Government to successfully implement the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.
The candidates for the program submitted their applications through HBMPSLD's newly launched website (www.dubaisportleaders.ae). Further details about the program and its different activities are also available on the HBMPSLD website.
