Hani Salama, the heartthrob Egyptian actor, was given the red carpet treatment at a recent star-studded presentation evening in Geneva, which celebrated the launch of luxury watch manufacturer, IWC’s new da Vinci collection. Mr. Salama, accompanied by his wife Perihane, enjoyed a night of music, food, dancing and entertainment at an exclusive venue in the Swiss city, attended by fellow celebrities from the acting and sporting world and around fourteen hundred other specially invited guests.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Salama said; “It was an honour for my wife and I to be invited to Geneva for this gala evening. I am very pleased to be acknowledged as a friend of the IWC watch brand and their growing reputation across the Middle East has opened up a new fan base for their collections.” Mr. Salama mingled with the other high profile guests at the soiree, who included Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, tennis legend Boris Becker and footballing superstar Zinédine Zidane.

Among the highlights at the launch party was a play that was written and performed exclusively for the event by Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey and live music from legendary disco band Chic. A special presentation was also made to Mr. Kurt Klaus, IWC’s master craftsman and watchmaking genius, who has spent over fifty years his life working for IWC and whose revolutionary perpetual movement has been hailed as a design breakthrough and the most accurate calibre of its time.

Commenting on a memorable and enjoyable evening for all, Georges Kern, CEO of IWC said; “It was a fantastic event and a fitting tribute to Kurt Klaus and the new da Vinci watch range. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who made it possible and are especially thankful to the friends of our brand who have travelled from across the world to support IWC and who are instrumental in carrying our name to new markets.”

Hani Salama is one of the best known stars of the silver screen in the Arab world. After a childhood spent in Kuwait, he returned to Egypt and decided to try his luck at acting, landing a role in his first film ‘Al Massir,’ also known as ‘Destiny.’ He has made several films over the past decade and built a fervent fan base in this time, particularly among females, as he generally plays the romantic lead. His most recent role was in ‘Khiana mashroaa,’ a movie released last year and the latest in his string of box-office successes.

IWC are the only luxury Swiss watch manufacturer located in the east of Switzerland. They have been at the forefront of quality mechanical watch design for nearly 140 years. Their timepieces have become synonymous with craftsmanship and engineering and are loved by professional pilots, style icons and watch connoisseurs the world over. Since the year 2000, IWC has belonged to the watch division of Richemont SA.
