ALBAWABA - Lebanon's embassy in Washington announced Monday that Hezbollah had agreed to a proposal by the United States to stop attacking Israel in exchange for Israel halting airstrikes on south Beirut.

This comes shortly after President Donald Trump said he had a "very good call" with the Iran-backed group.

Under the arrangement, which Hezbollah has accepted according to a statement shared by the Lebanese presidency, "Israeli strikes on Dahiyeh would cease in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from launching attacks against Israel," referring to Beirut's southern suburbs.

Israel threatened to strike Beirut's southern suburbs on Monday.

On the other hand, Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir publicly called on PM Benjamin Netanyahu to reject Trump's position, strike Hezbollah, unleash Israeli fighters, and restore security to northern Israel.

Ben-Gvir posted on X, "This is the time to tell our friend, President Trump—'no'. Now is the time to do what is required and necessary to strike Hezbollah, to unleash the hands of our fighters, and to restore security to the north."

Israeli army continued its offensive in Lebanon and carried out its deepest ground invasion in two decades and heavy bombardment.

Hezbollah joined the conflict on March 2 by firing rockets at Israel in retaliation for the US-Israeli attacks in Iran, which resulted in the killing of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
