Higher Colleges of Technology Organizes “Career Day” in Association with Dubai Customs
H.E. Butti Ahmed, Director General of Dubai Customs and H.E. Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Director of Higher Colleges of Technology opened the Career Day exclusively sponsored by Dubai Customs and organized by Dubai Men’s College. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Robert Richards, Director of Dubai Men’s College, several Customs officials, in addition to the academic & administrative staff and a host of various media representatives operating in the UAE.
This Day features a Career Day witnessing extensive participation from government and semi-government bodies as well as private businesses. Each organization rented an exclusive stand at the expo to showcase job opportunities on offer to enable the graduates apply to the jobs that suit them. Students handed over their CVs in person to these companies and organizations in pursuit of prospective jobs that match their abilities and competencies.
The Career Day attracted participation from about 2000 UAE national students, including graduates from Dubai Boys College in various specialties needed by the job market. Others are about to graduate or other students from Higher Colleges of Technology.
The Career Day aims to provide placements for elite youth Emiratis in local and international businesses and organizations. It also avails candidates the opportunity to profile various potential jobs in the emirate and obtain counseling and advisory service to assist them select the jobs that match to their expectations and abilities.
H.E. Ahmed Butti expressed his delight for attending this Day amidst large numbers of talented Emirati youth and said: “Really it is a great Day to celebrate our graduates from different universities and institutes of Dubai. We are seeking to add a new component to the lives of these youths through helping them select professional lines and review potential placements in organizations and businesses that fit well with their abilities and qualifications. Dubai Customs is privileged to play this national role and contribute to serving this important category in the community of the UAE. We believe that youth are the cornerstone of the future of our beloved country. We are therefore thrilled and honoured to be in the forefront of those who contributed to this important event in the careers of our youth”.
H.E. Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Director of Higher Colleges of Technology, said that this collective participation from public & private sector recruitment agencies was testament to the deep relations linking these institutions with the educational sector; a matter which underscored the success of our colleges. “Through this Expo, we are not only seeking to provide job opportunities for students, but also direct them to strike a comparison covering the working environments at various organizations, package of benefits offered to UAE fresh graduates, and plans to groom them for senior positions. The Career Day also aims to urge youth to select the organizations preferred for conducting practical training during the course of their study and seek further scholarships” added Dr. Kamali, who also thanked companies which sponsored this important event.
Through sponsoring this key event, Dubai Customs is demonstrating its effective contribution to the overall social & economic development in the emirate by undertaking and supporting several developmental projects. Dubai Customs is always aspiring to support Emirati youth with all possible tools and abilities to assist them pick up their professional careers in sound steps to new heights of success typical to the success they made during their educational career.
