The Lebanese Hizbollah party has asked Palestinians to provide it with an authentic list of prisoners held in Israeli jails because the Islamist group wishes to include the list in its negotiations concerning the swapping three Israeli soldiers for Lebanese and Arab prisoners, according to a top official at the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, General Command.
“A comittee comprising members of Islamic Jihad, Hamas and the Popular Front is now handling the task of preparing a final list of Palestinian prisoners,” said Hussam Arafat, leader of the PFLP, GC in Palestine in an interview with Albawaba.com.
Negotiations via international mediators are underway between Hizbollah and Israel regarding the fate of three Israeli soldiers which Hizbollah keeps as POWs after the group apprehended them in Shabaa Farms in south Lebanon.
Hizbollah insists that the prisoners were seized on occupied Lebanese territories, and will be freed only in a swapping process.
Barakat added that the committee is now coordinating efforts with other political powers in the Palestinian territories to draft the list.
