ALBAWABA- The Houthi-run Yemeni Armed Forces announced they had successfully shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone over Al Hodaidah Governorate, accusing it of violating Yemeni airspace and conducting hostile missions.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated that this marks the fifteenth aircraft downed by their air defenses as part of what they call the “battle of the promised conquest and holy jihad” in support of Gaza and Lebanon.
The downing of the U.S. drone comes just a day after Washington officially designated the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, sanctioning several of their leaders over attacks on vessels in the Red and Arabian Seas.
The Houthis had previously paused their military operations following the Gaza ceasefire but warned they would resume full-scale attacks if Israel breaches the truce or escalates aggression against the Palestinian people.
