Hundreds of Palestinian workers who lost their jobs during the Intifada took to the streets on Saturday in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, urging the Palestinian Authority to help them find alternative jobs.
The official KUNA news agency reported that the demonstrators headed to Rafah municipality building, and handed officials there a letter to President Yasser Arafat, asking him to find a solution to their problem.
“We are living in a very difficult situation. We lost our jobs and we can’t feed our children,” one demonstrator told the agency.
Palestinian sources said that some 7000 Palestinians, who used to work in Israel, have lost their jobs after the Jewish state staged a blockade on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip after the outbreak of the Intifada – Albawaba.com
