Hungarian customs officers seized 129 kilograms (287 pounds) of heroin at the Nagylak border station with Romania Sunday, customs Colonel Agoston Wentzel told the MTI news agency.

The drug was hidden in the double roof of a Turkish truck loaded with fruit and headed for Germany, Wentzel said.

The heroin has a street value of some 700 million forints (2.66 million euros, 2.28 million dollars).

It was seized after officers discovered that the truck's weight did not correspond to that stated in the delivery documents, he said -- BUDAPEST (AFP)
