UAE cricket enthusiasts are being offered the chance to take part in the world pilot of a brand new level 1 cricket coach education course that has been developed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), it was announced today.
The two-day course will be piloted three times throughout October, in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, under the guidance of three internationally recognised coaches from the ICC Global Cricket Academy (GCA), which is part of Dubai Sports City.
The level 1 course has been specifically designed by the ICC to meet the highest international standards, and will be extremely valuable for club and school coaches, PE teachers, keen parents, as well as senior high school and club-cricket players, to help improve the quantity and quality of local cricket instructors.
Attendees will learn how to teach basic batting, bowling, fielding, and wicket keeping skills, in addition to the art of coaching, planning, and how to communicate effectively. Drills and modified games will also be included in the course.
“The UAE has been chosen to host the first-ever ICC cricket coach education course, which will arm participants with an internationally recognised qualification. By developing and delivering this course, the ICC aims to grow the number of coaches across the country and boost the quality of coaching to a world-class level,” said Dayle Hadlee, Head Coach at ICC GCA, and one of the course instructors.
‘Everyone who attends the course will be able to coach anywhere in the world, but there are only a limited number of spaces available so we are encouraging people to contact us now to book their place,” he added.
Director of Coaching at ICC GCA Rodney Marsh, and Head Coach Mudassar Nazar will also act as instructors for the Level 1 Cricket Education Coaching Course that will take place between 9am and 5pm on:
• 9 - 10 October 2009 – Al Yasmina School – Abu Dhabi
• 16 – 17 October – Bradenton Prep Academy – Dubai Sports City
