Iconic London West End Freehold Comes to Market

Jones Lang LaSalle has been appointed by the Rock Group of Companies to sell the freehold interest of one of its trophy assets, the former Burberry headquarters building, 18-22 Haymarket, SW1.
The ornate Grade II listed building totals 36,500 sq ft and was built for Burberry, just before The Great War, as their flagship headquarters.  Having owned and occupied the building for nearly a century, Burberry vacated the property in March this year.  The iconic Central London landmark will be offered with full vacant possession.
Damian Corbett, at selling agent Jones Lang LaSalle, said: "The building will suit a variety of uses including high end retail, residential, luxury boutique hotel, private members club, destination bar and offices, subject to planning.  It is a rare opportunity to be able to offer a vacant freehold in this location with so many potential uses and we expect to see very strong interest from occupiers and investors alike."
Barry Gilbertson, real estate partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the administrators of the shareholding company in the Rock Group, commented: "This is only the second time that the property has been offered to the market in 100 years.  The sale provides potential buyers with an incredible chance to secure a very rare thing in the West End - the freehold of a prestigious property, with tremendous development opportunities, just at a time when the international real estate market is starved of quality product."
