IIMSAM to encourage Spirulina to combat Swine Flu
The Director- General of the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), the Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, His Excellency Remigio Martin Maradona said that Microalgae Spirulina has a lot of organic materials that can be helpful to protect from the fatal Swine flu.
His Excellency Remigio Maradona is in Doha with a high level delegation of IIMSAM accompanying IIMSAM Ambassador at Large and Chief Executive Officer of Abu- Dhabi based Hydra Properties, Dr. Sulaiman Al- Fahim, Ambassador S. Rahimi and others on an invitation from Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud, IIMSAM’s Goodwill Ambassador and Director (Middle East).
The delegation will visit to a number of organizations including Qatar Charity, Qatar Society for Rehabilitation & Special Needs, ASPIRE, Shafallah Centre for The Children with Special Needs, Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) among others. The visiting officials will be in Doha until May 12, 2009.
Speaking on an occasion, HE Maradona said that researches show that we can use Spirulina microalgae against a lot many viruses because of its IMMUNOSTIMULANT effects.
He further said that Spirulina is one of the beautiful gifts from the nature since the existence of life on earth. Highlighting the features of the Micro Algae Spirulina, he further said that these blue - green algae which has many other non- pharmaceutical means, has proved to be a very promising alternative option in the treatment of multiple health disorders as it strengthens the complete immune system.
IIMSAM delegation arrived Qatar after visiting various countries of Africa continents. They have initiated few welfare programmes for the poor and children affected with malnutrition. During this trip, Camp Maradona, a programme initiated by IIMSAM was launched at historical village Kogelo located near Kenya- Uganda boarder.
The project will benefit Senator Obama Secondary School, Agoro Secondary School, Diboro Secondary School, Nyangoma Primary School, Golden Elite and other schools. The head quarter for Camp Maradona will be located in Kisumu. Dr. Al Fahim played the very crucial role in this project sponsoring the entire programme.Dr. Sulaiman Al- Fahim, who is a high profile business personality in Middle East gave football equipment to the secondary and primary schools in Kogelo, a historical village. Kogelo is the village where grandmother of the president of the United States, Mr. Obama resides.
Speaking on the occasion, IIMSAM’s Goodwill Ambassador, Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud said that Spirulina is one of the super foods on this earth. He added that the given algae are one of the oldest life forms on Earth, which billions of years ago produced the oxygen in our atmosphere so that other life forms could appear. Amazingly, Spirulina has remained till our days and this super food is a Nature’s boon to poorer who could not afford rich and nutritious foods.
Explaining the feature of the super food, Dr. Naseer said it contains multiple nutrients which are very beneficial for human health. He said that Camp Maradona initiative launched by Dr. Sulaiman Al- Faim under the aegis of IIMSAM will bring positive change in the society and in turn many youths will realise the importance of Sports.
Dr. Naseer further said that IIMSAM’s visit to African countries was very worthy as we initiated humanitarian programmes for the affected. He paid his thanks to Dr. Sulaiman Al- Fahim for his generosity during the Africa trip.
