Abu Dhabi’s new Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) recently signed a long-term contract with Injazat Data Systems, the region’s leading Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, under which Injazat will provide IT-managed services and assume full responsibility for the centre’s IT strategy and infrastructure.

Established in the 1st Quarter of 2005, Injazat Data Systems is an Abu Dhabi-based joint venture between Mubadala Development Company and Electronic Data Systems (EDS). This deal will be a new opportunity for Injazat Data Systems to create new jobs for UAE Nationals in line with its vision of developing UAE National IT professionals.

Under the terms of the contract, Injazat will be responsible for IT infrastructure management, roll out and ongoing support of ICLDC’s IT systems and infrastructure. Injazat has also implemented an Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for the Centre, to manage its finance, HR, payroll and procurement operations.

Injazat has deployed an innovative thin client, terminal-based solution and has also built an interface between the ERP platform and the centre’s management system. The state-of-the-art facility aims to become the region’s leading medical centre providing the highest level of specialised patient care from first diagnosis to the management of all complications associated with diabetes.

Dr. Maha Taysir Barakat, Medical Director of ICLDC said: “We are glad to entrust the responsibility of provision and maintenance of our IT infrastructure to Injazat. This agreement allows us to benefit from the latest world-class, cost-effective technology applied with best practices, and facilitates our provision of prompt and efficient medical and treatment services to our patients."

Ibrahim Lari, Injazat Data Systems’ CEO said: “Managing healthcare in today’s world is becoming increasingly complex as providers struggle to contain costs and improve the quality of care for patients. Injazat is happy to make available its industry and process experts, superior infrastructure and technology services to the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre.”

“Injazat’s holistic approach helps organisations to overcome the start-up challenge by ensuring collaboration at all levels and by integrating processes across the spectrum of healthcare functions. Injazat’s services combine the latest in innovative technologies with worldwide best practices delivered by a team of dedicated professionals and will allow the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre to streamline its operations, achieve greater economies of scale and gain a competitive advantage,” he added.

In its first year of operation, Injazat Data Systems has signed contracts worth more than AED 700 million and has grown into a 300-strong team of professionals--of whom more than 40 per cent are UAE Nationals--providing high quality IT-managed services to a growing number of organisations in the private and public sectors.
