Indonesian President Invites Libya's Kadhafi to Jakarta

Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid has invited Libyan president Moamer Kadhafi to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad in Jakarta this month, the state Antara news agency said Friday. 

The agency quoted Indonesian foreign minister Alwi Shihab as saying in Tehran that Wahid had asked Kadhafi to attend the commemoration at Jakarta's state Merdeka palace on June 22nd. 

Shihab, who is accompanying the Indonesian president on a two-week tour of European and Middle Eastern countries, said Wahid had also invited Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Pakistani Prime Minister Musharraf. 

"All of them have expressed their readiness," Shihab was quoted by Antara as saying after a courtesy call on Khatami in Tehran, on Thursday. 

Also included on the invitation list were Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia, he said - JAKARTA (AFP)
