Injazat deploys Oracle for its eServices portal at Abu Dhabi’s Environmental Agency
Injazat Data Systems, the region’s leading IT and Business Process Outsourcing company and a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), has successfully completed the development and deployment of an eServices portal based on Oracle technology, for the Environmental Agency in Abu Dhabi (EAD).
Initiated in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Committee (ADSIC), the portal will offer convenient and quick online environment-related services to the UAE’s residents and visitors. The online services will benefit constituents engaged in traditional, commercial, or recreational fishing activities, as well as falconing in Abu Dhabi.
As part of its efforts to protect the environment, streamline its information and environment-related services, the EAD decided that initiating online services would provide the best solution. Through this portal, the agency now offers marine services including issuance of fishing licenses for traditional, recreational, and commercial fishing; ‘Gargour’ permits for commercial fishermen; research vessel survey licenses; aquaculture licenses; and artificial reef licenses. The new portal will also facilitate the issuing of the Falcon passport - a three-year license for UAE nationals and residents who wish to transport legally acquired falcons.
“The development and deployment of an eServices portal for the EAD was a challenge and opportunity for Injazat, in the sense that we were providing a vehicle for both the new and old worlds to be combined. We worked to combine some of the UAE’s most traditional activities – fishing and falconing – with the efficiency of online technology,” said Wassim El Mawas, alliance manager, Injazat Data Systems. “Our need for streamlined and effective services, and uninterrupted information access meant that we were seeking a proven solution and a vendor with strong eGovernment and portal references. Using Oracle Database, Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Oracle Developer Suite, we have put together an efficient, secure, reliable and user-friendly portal to cater to the requirements of marine and falconing enthusiasts and professionals.”
With its intuitive Web-based management interface, and visual development environment for Web-based applications, Oracle Fusion Middleware was a key component in the development of the new Abu Dhabi eServices portal. It is the industry’s most comprehensive solution for portal and Web service development and offers unmatched scalability, manageability and security.
“While an increasing emphasis is being placed on the environment and its sustainability, the portal is an ideal platform to provide information on services and access to an extensive range of environmental data in an efficient manner. The portal will also assist in achieving the Abu Dhabi government’s vision of expanding the system of eGovernance by providing efficient and cost-effective services and information to its customers,” said Ayman Abou Seif, Vice President, Oracle, Gulf States.
