Middle Eastern e-trade is expected to grow from less than $100 million in 1999 to $1 billion in 2002.

This statement was delivered by the Director General of the Intel Company in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, Robert Ackelman.Al-Jazirah daily reports that Ackelman said the growth would be fueled, at least in part, by the governments of Egypt, Syria, UAE and Jordan's support of computer education. Furthermore, the growth will be driven by Dubai's Internet City Project. Ackelmann added that Intel would review its work strategies in the Middle East, since an increasing number of regional sellers and buyers have been using the Internet - a development that will lead to increased demand for computers in the region.
