An Algerian moderate Islamic movement said on Saturday it had appointed an interim head two days after the death of its founder, Mahfoud Nahnah.
The Society of Peace Movement (MSP) said Vice-President Mohamed Megharia would act as caretaker leader until a meeting of the MSP executive body in the next couple of days, due to be followed by a full-scale convention, AFP reported.
Nahnah died last week following a long illness at the age of 61. Dozens of thousands of mourners attended his funeral at Algiers' national El-Alia cemetery on Friday. (Albawaba.com)
