ALBAWABA - Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) announced Thursday it targeted a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel in the northern Gulf, claiming it was U.S.-owned, according to AFP.
The army added on its website, Sepah News, that the USS Saif Sea was "an asset" of the U.S. military, adding that it was "targeted in the northern Gulf after ignoring and failing to comply with warnings and alerts."
On Wednesday, the IRGC announced that it had struck a Liberian-flagged vessel, which it claimed was Israeli-owned, in addition to a Thai cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, after they ignored warnings to stop.
Semi-official Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) website cited the army in a statement, "The Israeli-owned, Liberian-flagged vessel Express Rome and the container ship Mayuri Nari were struck by Iranian shells and halted after ignoring warnings from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy."
Alireza Tangsiri, Iranian commander of the navy, said that any ship intending to pass through must obtain permission from Iran.
