Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers held talks in Doha Friday on the sidelines of the Islamic summit, reported Iran News Agency (IRNA).
The agency said that Kamal Kharrazi and his counterpart, Mohammad Said al-Sahhaf, reviewed the results of the Kharrazi’s visit to Baghdad in mid-October, the issue of prisoners of war (POW) as well as remaining issues from the 1980-1988 war between the two neighboring states, which claimed hundreds of
lives on both sides, said the agency.
Kharrazi also met with Lebanese Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Hammoud, and discussed with him ways of boosting bilateral ties between the two countries, said IRNA.
The meeting was on the sidelines of the OIC ministerial gathering, said the agency.
Hammoud said, after the meeting, that he and Kharrazi discussed the need to deepen bilateral relations, particularly in the field of economic activities, and the need to reinvigorate the Tehran-Beirut joint economic commission, said the agency.
He added that the Iranian foreign minister expressed his country's willingness and readiness to contribute to efforts of reconstructing south Lebanon, IRNA said.
Arab leaders are to convene Sunday for the OIC summit, which will dedicated to discussing the escalating violence in the Palestinian lands.
