Iran, Oman Condemn ‘Israeli Atrocities’ against Palestine, Syrian and Lebanon

Iran and Oman strongly condemned the Israeli practices against Palestine, Syria and Lebanon and called on the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and other international bodies to take firm action against the Jewish state, reported Iran’s news agency (IRNA) on Friday. 

Citing a joint statement issued Thursday on the last day of a three-day state visit to Tehran of Omani Deputy Prime Minister, Fahd bin Mahmoud as-Said, Iran and Oman insisted on the right of Palestinians made refugees by the creation of Jewish state in 1948, as well as their families, to return to their homeland.  

A more hardline statement was issued by Iran’s spiritual leader Ali Khamenei on Thursday after his meeting with visiting Syrian President Bashar Assad. According to Al Jazira satellite channel, Khamenei said that the only solution to the conflict in the Middle East is the eradication of Israel; meanwhile, President Mohammad Khatami described the Jewish state as the "biggest crisis, threat and danger in the region and in the Islamic world." 

The Omani official is on official visit upon an invitation of Iran's First Vice-President Hassan Habibi. 

Assad arrived in Tehran Wednesday for a two-day state visit, his first since assuming power in Damascus last July. 

Assad held his first round of talks with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and called later on Ayatollah Khamenei. 

Iran and Oman also expressed their regret over the plight of Iraqi people and welcomed the United Nations resolutions aiming at assuaging the pains of Iraqis, said IRNA.  

At the economic level, Iran and Oman have agreed to keep the oil prices at a just price in the world markets. They showed desire to stabilize oil prices in line with he OPEC decisions.
