ALBAWABA - Iranian lawmakers have been working and triggering the Tehran parliament to sack the country's Economy Minister Abdolnaser Hemmati.
The move to dismiss Abdolnaser Hemmati comes after the huge slip in the Iranian Rial, the national currency, AFP reported on Wednesday.
The Iranian minister, however, should stand before the legislature within 10 days to defend his record in a session but a decision could be taken by the parliament to sack him according to the country's law.
Reports showed that in the black market, the Iranian rial is now trading at over 900,000 to the US dollar, however, it was less than 600,000 in mid-2024.
Ahmad Naderi, an Iranian MP and member of the parliament's presiding board, revealed that 91 lawmakers had signed the proposal to sack the economy minister.
It is worth noting that sacking ministers in Tehran is common as back in 2023, lawmakers sacked the industry minister Reza Fatemi Amin after increasing car prices.
