ALBAWABA - One day following the announcement of a peace deal between the United States and Iran, a mysterious explosion hit the capital of Tehran.

According to Iranian sources on social media, a military facility in northeastern Tehran caught fire on Monday night, and the reason behind it is unknown, as no official statement has been made yet to clarify what happened.

A mysterious blast in the Iranian capital was questioned by people who claimed that the Israeli Mossad could be behind it following the peace deal between Washington and Tehran, which upset Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The explosion took place in the Shahrek-e Omid district in Tehran, which hosts many military and security personnel.

Some reports claimed the blast happened near buildings tied to the Foreign Intelligence and Liberation Movements Affairs Organization of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence.

Iran's news outlet, Asr Iran, reported the fire and said it caused a thick column of smoke to rise in the sky southeast of the capital.

A fire department spokesman told IRNA, "The column of smoke seen in southeast Tehran is related to a fire in a goods warehouse in Qiyam Square."

He further said, "Seven fire stations were dispatched to the scene within five minutes."
