An official Iraqi daily Thursday rejected United States charges that Baghdad is a sponsor of terror, saying Washington's annual "Patterns of Global Terrorism" report was "the apex of terrorism against peoples."

It is "not surprising that the report should feature unfounded accusations and lies against mostly Arab and Muslim peoples," said the army daily Al-Qadissiya

By any standard, the "malicious" report released earlier this week represents "the apex of terrorism against peoples," the newspaper wrote.

It is "truly laughable that the number one terrorist state in the world should imagine it can divert attention from its aggressive and terrorist policy by trying to stick the terror label to anyone who speaks out against injustice or defends his rights," Al-Qadissiya conveyed.

U.S. President George W. Bush, speaking on the eve of a European tour, again warned European allies on Tuesday that "the Iraq government is a dangerous government."

"We've got to deal with it," said Bush, whose administration has threatened to take military action against Iraq and try to topple Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein unless he allows UN arms inspectors back into Baghdad. (Albawaba.com)
