ALBAWABA - The Israeli army announced that it had assassinated Ali Yusuf Harshi, the personal secretary to the Secretary-General of Hezbollah and brother of Naim Qassem, in an attack on Lebanon on Wednesday.
Israeli army spokesperson wrote on X, "The Defence Army eliminated in Beirut the Secretary-General of the Terrorist Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, and targeted a series of terrorist infrastructure during last night in southern Lebanon."
Avichay Adraee added, "Harshi was close and a personal advisor to the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, and played a central role in managing his office and securing it."
According to the army, Ali Yusuf Harshi is not only the personal secretary of Naim Qassem, but he is also his brother's son.
Adraee also said that the army targeted about 10 weapons depots, launch platforms, and command headquarters affiliated with the Lebanese group in southern Lebanon.
Israel launched 100 airstrikes on Lebanon in 10 minutes on Wednesday, killing 112 people and wounding 837 others.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared a national day of mourning after deadly Israeli strikes on Wednesday. In a statement, the PM's office revealed Thursday will be "a national day of mourning for the martyrs and wounded of the Israeli attacks that targeted hundreds of innocent, defenceless civilians."
