Three Palestinians, including a toddler were killed Wednesday by Israeli fire, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

A senior Hamas member has been killed in an explosion in the West Bank. Hamas sources accused Israeli troops of setting off the blast.

The blast went off at about 8:30am (0530GMT) in an apartment in the village of Zawata near the Palestinian city of Nablus. The operative, Amin Fadel, 28, was killed.

Fadel had rented the apartment four days earlier. He had been wanted by Israel for two years on suspicion of involvement in attacks on Israelis.

The mayor of Zawata said Israeli troops had imposed a curfew on the village several hours before the explosion. Local firefighters said the blast went off inside the house, ruling out a missile strike.

Meanwhile in the Gaza Strip, Palestinain doctors said that one-and-a-half year old Alian Bashiti was killed by Israeli gunfire in the refugee camp of Khan Yunis. Witnesses said that Israeli soldiers fired at the neighborhood, and that the baby was in his house when he was hit. They said that he was hit after troops opened fire from the nearby settlements of Morag and Ganei Tal.

Also in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army confirmed that it had shot dead Ahmed Issam Jouda, 18, a Hamas operative. (Albawaba.com)
