ALBAWABA - For the second time in the span of two days, the Israeli army has launched overnight attacks on Aleppo International Airport that put it out of service, the Syrian defense ministry said.
"At about 11:35 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial attack from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Lattakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport, which led to material damage to the airport putting it out of service," a military source said in a statement, SANA reported.
"This new act of aggression affirms the criminal approach of the Israeli occupation entity, which is clearly embodied today in its continued crimes against the Palestinian people and the massacres it commits against innocent civilians, including women and children".
"By attacking civilian airports, the Israeli enemy proves that it is the origin of terrorism and the greatest supporter of terrorist organizations in the region and Syria in particular" the statement added.
The airport reopened on Saturday after the Israeli army launched simultaneous missile attacks on the airports in Syria's capital Damascus and the northern city of Aleppo on Thursday, damaging the runways and forcing both terminals to close.
Later on Thursday, local media reported that a number of Israeli missiles were launched towards both Aleppo International Airport and Damascus International Airport leading for both airports to go out of service for a while.
