Israel's consulate in Sydney has been reinforced with steel and concrete in case of a terrorist attack during the Olympic Games, a report said Wednesday.
The Australian newspaper said builders had spent two days working on the consulate which is on the seventh floor of an office block in the heart of Sydney's central business district.
Israeli guards, believed to be from the spy agency Mossad, were patrolling entrances and nearby vantagepoints.
Israel, which has been highly sensitive to Olympic security since 11 Jewish athletes were killed at Munich in 1972, is sending its largest Olympic team ever to Sydney, comprising 39 athletes and 10 officials.
They will be based on Queensland's Sunshine Coast until the days before the opening ceremony on September 15th -- SYDNEY (AFP)
