Israeli troops re-invaded the town of Beit Hanoun early Sunday morning, shortly after redeploying outside the southern city of Khan Younis, where 12 Palestinians were killed.
According to WAFA news agency, dozens of Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers advanced in the area of Abu Safiyya, east of Jabalia town in northern Gaza Strip amid heavy gunfire.
Meanwhile, the agency added, Israeli combat helicopters and unmanned drones hovered above Jabalia refugee camp early Sunday morning.
WAFA quoted security and medical sources as saying that one of the warplanes fired a missile at a group of civilians near the refugee camp. No casualties were reported.
In the meantime, Palestinians fired four mortar shells early Sunday at targets in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli reports. Two of the shells landed in settlements, while two more fell near Israeli military outposts in the area. No casualties were caused in the incidents. Later, one Israeli was seriously wounded when Palestinians fired two mortar shells at the Erez industrial zone on the northern border between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The mortar shells were apparently fired from the nearby Palestinian village of Beit Lahia.
Elsewhere, also Sunday morning, five Israelis suffered from shock in Sderot town after Palestinians reportedly fired two Qassam rockets at this southern Israeli town.
Before dawn Sunday, Israeli soldiers in the nothern Gaza Strip spotted two Qassam rocket launchers, according to Israeli media. An Israel Air Force helicopter fired missiles at the launchers destroying both before the rockets could be fired, Israel Radio reported.
Israeli army units had pulled out from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning and were repositioned around the town's northern neighborhoods.
In the meantime, in the West Bank, Israeli troops arrested 12 "wanted Palestinians" before dawn on Sunday. Ten were arrested in Dura, located west of Hebron, and two others were arrested in Azun, southeast of Qalqilyah.
