Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon phoned Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to ask about his health following his recent illness.

"Ariel Sharon called President Mubarak to inquire after his health and send his regards on the occasion of the Muslim holiday Eid Al-Fitr" Mena news agency reported Sunday.

Mubarak briefly suspended his speech Wednesday at the inaugural session of the Egyptian parliament due to a "health crisis".

"During their conversation, Sharon expressed his hope that progress would be made on the Middle East peace process," the agency added. (Albawaba.com)
