The seventh and final round of the Dubai Autodrome Motor Sports Club Raceday that is set to kick off this Friday the 19th of May at the 4.29 km International Circuit of the Dubai Autodrome will crown three champions. This is the first of its kind local championship event to ever take place in the UAE, on an FIA approved circuit.

The championship which started in January, have always involved three races– the Toyo GTI Cup, the Gulfsport Radical Cup and the UAE National Superstock Bike. As always, there were two races for each championship and the concluding round will be no exception. Six more entertaining races, including four saloon car and motorcycle races are scheduled for this coming Friday with the races starting at 1.30pm.

Karim Al Azhari, who won 10 races out of 12, has already been crowned champion in the Gulfsport Radical Cup with 322 points. But the battle for the 2nd and 3rd positions is still wide open, with Robert Simpson on 232 points and Jean Yves Mallat on 196 points leading the way.

An added attraction in the Radcial Cup will be Claire Furnell Motoring journalist who will take up the challenge set by Gulf Sport to drive a Radical SR3 in the Gulf Sport Radical championship at the Dubai Autodrome.

Claire will drive the 252 bhp Radical SR3 sports racing car in the last two races of the championship this weekend and in doing so will become the first woman to race in the national championship.

The UAE National Superstock Bike on the other hand promises an action packed finale as Abdul Aziz is just 16 points behind Grant Yake. It all comes down to the final battle now, with even a slight mistake effectively destroying 4 months of hard work.

The Toyo GTI Cup is even more interestingly poised, with four drivers in a position to step on the winning spot. Yazan Rijleh, Ryan Trutch, Costas Papantonis and Adam Reeve will all be geared up to face the toughest test of the championship so far. It’s either win or lose, and nothing in between.

Entrance is free, with excellent food and refreshments available at the new Paddock Diner. Dubai Autodrome is located on the Emirates Road, next to Arabian Ranches.
