French superstar Zinedine Zidane is going nowhere and will play for Serie A runners-up Juventus next season, a club spokesperson told AFP on Wednesday.
"Zidane belongs to Juve. He is still under contract and will begin the season with us. These rumors that he is going to Spain are simply that - rumors," said the club spokesperson.
The 28-year-old, who scored twice for France in their 3-0 win over Brazil in the 1998 World Cup final, has been mentioned in the Spanish press as being on the move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona but is still under contract with Juve until 2004.
The mercurial midfielder was arguably the best player at Euro 2000 and led France to the title when they defeated Italy 2-1 with an extra-time golden goal – (AFP)
