JA spreads wings of freedom in Lebanon, inaugurating eighth brand new aircraft at Beirut International Airport
Kuwait and Dubai based airline Jazeera Airways (KSE: Jazeera, Bloomberg: Jazeera KK, Reuters: JAZK.KW) celebrated today an historic event at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, with the delivery and inauguration of the airline’s eighth new aircraft.
The delivery of the brand new Airbus A320 marks the first time that a non-Lebanese carrier receives a new aircraft in Beirut International Airport. The plane, which was flown directly from its manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France, was welcomed into Beirut by Minister of Tourism Mr. Elie Marouni and Jazeera Airways’ Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai, local officials and members of the local media .This follows from the delivery of the airline’s seventh new aircraft to the Dubai hub last week.
Boodai, speaking from the airport during the aircraft’s arrival said; “Lebanon has proven to be a highly significant market for our airline, as travel in and out of Beirut - for both business and tourism - is hugely popular and Beirut is one of the most sought after destinations from our Kuwait and Dubai hubs. We wanted to share this hugely exciting moment, the delivery of our eighth brand new aircraft, with our passengers, to show that we are dedicated to increasing our Lebanon operations, and to demonstrate that together, we will give our passengers across the Levant even more freedom to fly.”
“The fact that we are taking delivery of our eighth aircraft also demonstrates the considerable expansion that we have undertaken in our fleet size in such a short amount of time: we celebrated our third anniversary only last week. This new aircraft will help us succeed in meeting our proposed growth targets: to increase the number of destinations that we fly to and to increase the frequency of our flights across our entire network,” added Boodai.
Jazeera Airways currently operates a fleet of eight new Airbus A320s from its two hubs in Kuwait and Dubai. Each aircraft is fitted with the airline’s signature leather seating, while the Jazeera Plus (J+) cabin offers business travellers the highest standards of comfort, relaxation and a range of in flight amenities. The airline flies to destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent.
