Blonde teen star Jessica Simpson accepts she's not as popular as rivals Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera; she was failing to live up to their example aged just 13.
But the sexy singer says being snubbed by The Mickey Mouse Club, the TV show which gave the other two their big break, was the best thing that could have happened to her.
She says, "If I had gotten in, I'd never have signed with a
record label at 13. What not making the Club did for me was put
me in voice lessons and give me the determination to become a
singer.
"The Mickey Mouse Club people told me the whole time, 'you are
our number one choice,' and I walked around thinking, 'Yeah, I've
got it.' I had this huge ego and it was slammed in front of my
face."
She adds of the other two singers, "no I haven't sold eight
million albums like Christina and I haven't sold 20 million
albums like Britney.
"Magazines say stuff like, 'Jessica is coming in third.' I'm
not as successful as them. I have to accept that and not be
intimidated” – WENN.
