Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI), the global leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, introduced its MyGreenprint initiative to improve efficiency in residential and nonresidential facilities to tackle the current challenging market conditions. Greenprint is a new online tool from Johnson Controls in conjunction with one of the most effective environmental action organizations in US - National Resources Defense Council (NRDC). This initiative will help consumers and businesses in the Middle East assess and improve levels of personal sustainability at home, at work and on the road. Johnson Controls is reinforcing the message that efficiency is the first step towards sustainability and a solution we can all act on today.
Magdy A. Mekky, Vice President & Managing Director, Middle East said “Our vision of creating a more comfortable, safe and sustainable world defines our businesses, our people and the way in which we work with our customers and business partners. Globally, our commitment to ‘Efficiency Now’ remains the guiding principle for our businesses and ¬ this project is a culmination of our efforts at furthering the cause of sustainab¬le development. Our sustainability initiatives are practical and find their basis in our triple bottom line which focuses on economic prosperity, social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The energy conservation solutions offered by Johnson Controls pay back for themselves in the short to medium term. In the case of the Empire State Building, with an initial estimated project cost of $20 million, the building will save over $4.4 million per year in energy costs alone. Greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by more than 105,000 metric tons over the next 15 years.”
MyGreenprint will answer all the key energy saving questions that most of the people and institutions ignore on a daily basis. For instance - when using an electric cooktop, a 6 inch/15cm pan on an 8 inch/20 cm burner will waste over 40% of the heat produced by the burner. Food gets warmer faster in a small pot and wastes less energy. People can save 100 lbs/45 kg of carbon for each incandescent bulb that you replace with a compact fluorescent, over the life of the bulb. These energy-efficient bulbs help fight climate change because they reduce the amount of fossil fuels that utilities burn.
It’s simple to turn off water while brushing teeth or shaving. By doing that people can save two gallons/7.5 liters of water a minute. Furthermore, choosing just one energy-saving labeled product can save as much as 60%. Almost every piece of equipment comes in an energy-efficient form, from office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, mailing machines, printers, and scanners) to factory lunchrooms (refrigerators, coffee pots, microwave ovens and vending machines.

We provide ingenious products, services and solutions for companies to implement efficiency measures now - because it’s never been more important,” concluded Mr. Mekky.
