ALBAWABA - General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces released a statement mourning the death of major-ranked pilot Ali Al-Harasis after a military helicopter crashed around Al-Balqa area in Jordan.
A Cobra-style military helicopter crashed yesterday at Baqa'a camp during a training flight. At first, 2 pilots were reported injured and have been evacuated to Al Hussein Medical Centre, where they were listed in fair condition, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
However, earlier this morning, a statement was made public announcing that Major Al-Harasis had passed away from his injuries following the tragic helicopter crash. Jordanians have used social media to express their sorrow over Al-Harasis' passing since the announcement.
In a video of the incident that circulated social media, the pilot was seen attempting to steer the helicopter away from what appears to be a residential area in the hopes of securing a safe landing without endangering any civilians.
Al-Harasis, a pilot with a Major rank, tragically passed away while his colleague is still in the hospital. The Jordanian Armed Forces' General Command has urged people to refrain from spreading untrue rumors, which can cause unwarranted panic within the community.
