Jordan's royal court has dismissed as "inaccurate" statements attributed to King Abdullah which were due to be published Wednesday by a London-based Arab daily.
"The statements attributed to the king by the newspaper Al-Qods Al-Arabi were not accurate," a senior official at the royal court said.
The monarch "did not grant an interview to the newspaper but received the senior editor and discussed with him several current affairs in general terms," the official said later Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the newspaper faxed to AFP in Amman what it described as an "interview" with King Abdullah to be published in its Wednesday edition.
The king deplored what he called the lack of political support given by the Arab world to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat over the Camp David peace negotiations, and discussed the situation in Syria and relations with Iraq – AMMAN (AFP)
